Pizokel on Mount Pilatus
Fabian Dumitrache loves the Graubünden mountains and cuisine. And he loves the city of Lucerne. But more than anything, the young chef and restaurateur loves first-class cuisine. The former ‘Young Chef of the Year’ has never grown tired of the creative practice of experimenting with different ingredients and gastronomic nuances and optimising traditional dishes.
After working as a chef at a grand hotel in Flims for several years and assuming the mantle of the youngest-ever ship’s cook aboard the MS Europa II, he quickly realised that he wanted to offer his favourite cuisine in his favourite city. Thanks to much luck and a little audacity, the chef – who has also been part of the Swiss National Culinary Team – and his team were able to take over a vacant traditional restaurant on Eisengasse 15 in Lucerne’s Old Town. Here, fans of culinary delights and alpine comfort in Lucerne can enjoy a fresh twist on pizokel, capuns and other local specialities.
Our establishment
The Restaurant Bündnerland Luzern is located in one of the oldest houses in Lucerne’s Old Town and is steeped in history. The Late Middle Ages seem to radiate from every slanting nook and gable of this old timber-frame building. You can even still make out the former stable door.
Spread over three charming floors that are full of nooks and crannies, our restaurant can accommodate up to 80 guests. Thanks to the pleasant arrangement, even smaller groups can reserve a floor all for themselves and enjoy some privacy.

We ranked in first place in the Best of Swiss Gastro awards 2022!
We were the only restaurant in 2022 and the third restaurant ever to bring this coveted first place award home to Lucerne. Furthermore, this is the first time in Best of Swiss Gastro’s more than 18-year history that the award has gone to a restaurant in Lucerne’s historic city centre. And we are also the first restaurant in the canton of Lucerne to earn first place in the ‘Classic’ category.
